State Testing update

Online Testing Demos and Tutorials

OSPI has released a demo and tutorial for schools and the public to view and use. Please visit www.WAtesting.com/online.

The demo takes users through a demonstration of an online testing program similar to Washington’s.

The tutorial allows users to download an online Washington reading test. It is intended for to prepare for students for online testing.

All of our Spanish speaking students in our bilingual program K-12 will be tested on the WLPT II (Washington Language Proficiency Test) during February as required by Washington State.  We begin with K-2 on Feb. 9th, then 3-5 on Feb. 10th, 6-8 on Feb. 11th, and 9-12 on Feb. 12th.  Speaking tests will be given for K-6 on the 11th and 12th.   We continue with speaking tests for 3-5 on the 15th, 6-8 on the 16th, and 9-12 on the 17th.

Grades 3-5 will do the MSP (Measure of Student Progress) Test which replaces the WASL (Washington .Assessment of Student Learning) in reading and math for 3-5, writing for 4th, and science for 5th.  These will happen on May 17, 18, 19, and 24 with make-ups on the 25th and 26th.

Grades 6-8 will do the MSP on-line this year on May 17,18, 19, 20, 21 for grade 7, May 24,25,26 for grade 8, and May 27,28 for grade 6.

Grade 10 takes reading, math, writing, and science tests and grades 11and 12 take only those tests which were not previously passed in grade 10.  Reading is March 16, writing is Mar. 17 and 18, math is Apr. 13, and Sci. is Apr. 15th.  These are the only dates these tests are given.  There are no make-ups for the HSPE (High School Proficiency Exam) which replaces the WASL.  If your student misses, they will need to take the test in August in the Wenatchee area.

When making doctor or dentist appointments please reserve these dates.  Please help to make sure your child is here at school for their testing dates and has had a good breakfast and good sleep so they can do their best.  The results are used to help design a program to meet your student’s needs.

Emergency Closure Information

The following procedures will be employed by district when, in the opinion of the administration, conditions exist which warrant school closure, delay or early dismissal.

School Closure will occur when conditions are so severe that it is not in the best interest of any students to be in school attendance.   Parents will be notified by radio (560AM, 102.1FM KPQ and 93.5FM KOZI), and informational messages will be available at 784-0402 and 784-1800.  Information will also be posted at www.entiatschools.org by 7:00 am when possible.

Delayed Opening situations may occur which will delay school opening one hour and 45 minutes (start time of 10:00 am).   If your students’ bus does not arrive within fifteen minutes of its regular time, please tune to KPQ or KOZI for information concerning the delayed opening.  There will be no Preschool for that day.

Students who arrive at school because they did not hear the closure or delay information are asked to go to the high school office.

Early Dismissal situations may occur in which school would be released at an earlier time. Before releasing students, we would attempt to contact parents, and notify radio stations (KPQ and KOZI).   Normal bus take home routes would be in effect.  If the driver determines there to be no adult supervision, the student will be returned to school and kept safe under adult supervision, until the guardian arrives.
